Photography has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once an exclusive medium, it has become an everyday tool available to almost everyone — most recently through the smartphone. Images are now easier and faster to produce than ever before, and just as easy to distribute.

Where do we find ourselves in this vast cloud of images? Who can call themselves a photographer today? There is much talk about the “democratisation of photography”, but what does that actually mean?
